The following were reactions to the first Cloth & Memory exhibition in 2012.

“Wonderful – V. thought provoking and beautifully presented pieces of work of very high quality. Valuable space & attention given to an often neglected area of art and experience & greatly appreciated depth of scholarship and artists’ thoughts in videos. As an art therapist who has recently researched meanings & uses of thread and cloth – I’d be very interested in any opportunities to share work/ideas? Thanks.”

“I was very inspired & impressed by the exhibition – finding that Saltaire is sponsoring/housing – temporary exhibition and also because of the work exhibited by all three artists. Great to have the interviews – & that they are accessible on the web because it’s good to be able to listen to them in the quiet of home. The three artists complemented each other. Great to have textile works shown at Saltaire given the link with textiles. I found Beverly’s work – symbolising the pain/power of grieving fascinating & moving – I like the simplicity of each piece expressing an idea/experience – evoking feeling.”

“Excellent space and display. Three very unusual exhibitions. Well worth the trip through beautiful countryside to get here.”

“Very inspiring. Found the videos of the artists enjoyable and gave much more feel, context and insight to the exhibitions. Words feel too reductive!! Really glad to see all 3..”

“Yes I have watched the video, and agree, & love fabric, the colours & textures. & feel. I like old fabrics and like to think where & when was this particular piece was worn? How it has ‘worn’, different areas of the cloth. I would very much like to attend the seminar but cannot. I have really enjoyed your small exhibition and hope I will come back.”

“Very inspirational. Most unusual exhibition. Found it very interesting.”

“…….really great space and variety of work that ‘hung together’ brilliantly.”

“I thought Beverly’s work was awesome, it also hung together really well as an exhibition”

“The whole piece came together so well and each individual element was so good”

“We just got back from W Yorkshire along a very rainy M1! Just to say it was very much worth the trip – we both loved the exhibition, the work, the venue, just amazing. Thanks so very much for inviting me and congratulations on a very special show.”

“I had a wonderful afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition at salts – thank you. I was feeling in complete awe of the incredible building and the magnificent use of space. I feel another trip to the mill is necessary to again, fully appreciate the work.”

“We enjoyed the experience at Salts – it’s an extraordinary place and a great venue for all forms of artistic endeavour. Bob’s paintings lit up the Gallery and positively vibrated with energy and feeling. It is a compelling exhibition.”

“Just a quick note to say – huge CONGRATULATIONS on Cloth & Memory.  A great achievement by you and all involved.  Saturday’s opening event was a lovely occasion and I very much enjoyed it!”
